Which resistance should you pick?

The ohm rating decides the draw, and it matters more than the brand.

Higher ohms, less power and less liquid used. Lower ohms, more vapour and a shorter coil life. There's more detail in our guide to ohms and watts.

When does a coil need changing?

Between one and three weeks with normal use. The signs are unmistakable:

• The flavour goes flat, or turns burnt
• Vapour production drops
• It starts to leak or spit

Prime a new coil before you use it

This is the number one cause of a brand-new coil tasting burnt.

Fit it, fill the tank, then wait 5 to 10 minutes before the first puff. The cotton needs that time to saturate. Fire it dry and the coil is ruined on the very first draw — there's no recovering it.

The 2 ml rule

Every pod and cartridge sold in Spain holds a maximum of 2 ml, and e-liquid a maximum of 20 mg/ml of nicotine, under Real Decreto 579/2017. That applies here regardless of what a manufacturer's international spec sheet claims.
